Quality cannot be fixed at a product. This main point is valid also in the food industry: The quality of a product must be planned systematically, produced, supervised and corrected if necessary. Quality management systems such as the standards DIN EN ISO 9000 ff., IFS etc. are an indispensable aid for it. In the long run product quality and safety only can be maintained by a system of permanent improvement.
